Information For Teachers

Approximately 150 schools in 35 school districts are participating in the Evaluation of Educational Technology Interventions for the U.S. Department of Education. Teachers in these schools are being asked to join the evaluation. To volunteer for the study, teachers complete an agreement form indicating that they are willing to pilot an educational technology for one to two years in their reading classes (1st and 4th grades) or math classes (6th grade math and Algebra I in 8th or 9th grades). Teachers also sign the teacher agreement form acknowledging that:

  • Teachers volunteering to participate in the study are randomly assigned to pilot the technology or to serve as a control teacher.
  • Teachers selected to use the technology will be trained by the product developers.
  • Classroom observations will be conducted up to 3 or 4 times per year in all the study classrooms.
  • Teachers will complete a teacher questionnaire and participate in two face-to-face interviews.
  • Standardized tests will be administered to all students in the study classrooms in the fall and at the end of the academic year.
